2003 IACS Officers & Board Members

PRESIDENT

Sonda Reinartz
has been the Manager of the Black Hawk College Bookstore since 1996.  Prior to coming to Black Hawk, Sonda was the Bookstore Manager at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio.  She also spent several years as Book Department Manager at Case Western Reserve University and worked for five years as a Textbook Manager for the Follett Higher Group. Sonda earned her BA in Business from Hiram College. She has served on the IACS Annual Meeting Committee and as Secretary and Vice-President of IACS.

VICE-PRESIDENT
Lauren Sandberg has been the Manager of the Illinois Valley Community College Bookstore since 1997. Prior to that she worked as a Waldenbooks Manager for 14 years in Peru, Galesburg and Rockford. Lauren's hometown is Granville, IL. She has received an associates degree from IVCC and a bachelor's degree in marketing from Illinois State University. She has been active in the Altrusa Club and the League of Women Voters. Lauren is currently co-chair of the IACS Strategic Planning Committee and has served as a Two-Year School Representative of IACS.

SECRETARY
Lynne Durin is the Director at Kishwaukee College Bookstore, where she has been employed since 1995. Lynne has been active in retail for 33 years and owned and operated her own business for eleven of those years. Lynne has attended both Illinois Valley Community College and Kishwaukee College.  She resides in Steward, IL, with her husband on their farm.  She is the proud mother of two sons and five grandchildren. Lynne has served as both a member and Chair of the Education committee and on the Board of Directors of IACS.

TREASURER
Rich Seiler
has been the Manager of Harper College Bookstore since1990. Prior to coming to Harper College, Rich worked for Barnes and Noble from 1988 to1990, and Follett College Stores from 1978 to 1988. Rich earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from National-Louis University, prior to which he spent three years studying Architecture at the University of Illinois. He has served as President, Treasurer, and Secretary of IACS. He has also participated on the Vendor/Publisher Relations and Constitution Committees. Rich is married with four children and resides in Lake in the Hills, IL.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER REPRESENTATIVES
Dick Jeffrey is the new Illinois representative for the Tichenor College Textbook Company. He was previously a representative for Wallace's College Textbook Company for 15 years after having been an independent book buyer for 4 years. Dick is a graduate of Indiana University. He is married and with his wife Susan, and sons, Quinn, Jacob, and Simon reside in Chesterton, IN.

2 YEAR SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES
Cathie Scherman has been the Bookstore Director at McHenry County College since 1987. She has a Master's Degree in Business from Webster University. Cathie resides in Crystal Lake with her husband Tom and their three children. She has served as IACS Vice-President, Treasurer, and Newsletter Chair, and on the Membership Committee.
Brad O’Brien
has been the Auxiliary Services Director at Spoon River College since March of 2000. Prior to coming to SRC, Brad worked in various retail, training, and human resources environments. He has a BA in Economics & Business Administration from Knox College and plans to start pursuing his MBA this fall. Brad lives in Canton with his wife Michelle, an elementary school reading teacher, and their growing family, daughter Delaney Rose and baby O'Brien due this August.

4 YEAR SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES
Stacey Douglas has worked in various capacities at the Trinity Bookstore, Trinity International University (1979-1982, 1988-present), serving as the Director of the store since 1994.  He has a BS in Psychology from CSU-Fresno, CA, and a MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Bannockburn, IL. He served as Director of Education with a church in Ithaca, NY and worked as a research associate at Cornell University before returning to Trinity. Stacey and his wife Janet live in Vernon Hills with their English Springer Spaniels, Max & Nutmeg. He is also co-chair of the IACS Strategic Planning Committee and manages the association's web site.
Loreen Maxfield has been Director of Retail Operations at the University of Illinois-Chicago since October 2001 overseeing eight retail endeavors on campus. Loreen has an extensive background in private corporate retail having worked with The Disney Stores, Borders Books and Music, and The Limited, Inc. She also taught high school English for a number of years. She has a BS in Education from Northwestern University. Loreen has lived in Chicago with her husband Peter since 1980. They have a son, Malcolm, 13.

MEMBER-AT-LARGE
Sally Neist
has been the Manager of the Oakton Community College Bookstore since November 1994. She is a graduate of Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, WI.  She resides in Arlington Heights with her husband Ron and their daughter Rebecca.
