IACS Fall Meeting Highlights
Educational Opportunities & Special Guests
Hello Fellow Members,
I am tremendously excited about this year’s fall meeting. We will be celebrating
35
years of professional development, peer networking, and best of all – many
treasured
friendships. Let’s look at some other specifics that are also highlighted on the schedule:
Given the interest in the new
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and
Museum, we thought offering a trip for those of you who have not seen it
would be fun. Transportation will be provided. The entry fee is $7.50. I was
at the museum this summer and it’s one of the most interesting historical
presentations I have ever seen. It’s definitely worth your time. Please note
that we are asking you to help us plan for transportation by marking if you
are interested in attending the tour on your reservation form.
Dave Trinka from Budgetext has organized a Golf Outing at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield. Green fees including a cart plus lunch and 2 drink tickets will be $48.00. Those interested in attending or having questions about the event respond directly to Dave at 630-308-6746 or dtrinka@budgetext.com. Cutoff for registration is October 14th.
Please take part in our
School Apparel Exchange. Vendors are welcome to
participate. Just bring an apparel item from your store (or business) and
turn it in at registration. Your school name will be entered into drawings
that will occur during Sunday night’s dance. All who bring an item will
receive an item by choosing one when their school or business name is called.
You must bring an item to get an item.
Our
educational sessions, obtained with a
NACS grant
thanks to committee
members Randy Storm and Stacey Douglas, is “Exemplary Leadership for
Everyday Success”. This is not a session you’ve seen before at NACS. Be
prepared for something special that will teach you skills you can use
everyday in your store.
We have moved the
Annual Business Meeting to lunch at Monday noon just prior to the trade
show. This will allow more of our members, especially vendors, to hear and
take part in the business of our organization. Lunch will be followed by a
short presentation on the CCR Exam.
We are inviting our past presidents to attend the
“President’s Dinner” on
Monday night.
2 Budget Registrations to Houston’s CAMEX will be given away during the
meeting. One will be during the Trade Show. The other will be during the
farewell on Tuesday. Members must be present to win.
The Crowne Plaza Hotel (www.crowneplazaspringfield.com) will be the site
of our meeting. Room rates are $88.00 single, $93.00 double, $108.00 triple
and $123.00 quad. Reservations can be made at 800-589-2769. The
Group # is IRC. Due to hotel commitments
the firm final
date to register and
be guaranteed the above rate is October 10.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VENDORS:
Due to hotel
commitments 80 tables are available to us for the trade show. All vendors
who register by October 10 are guaranteed one table. You may request
additional tables at the cost of $25 per table. These requests will be filled on
October 13 on a first come first serve basis. If a registration/reservation
arrives at the IACS office after October 10, a table cannot be guaranteed.
I am pleased to announce that NACS President Debbie Harvey will be attending our meeting. Her schedule has not been finalized yet, so she is not on the tentative meeting schedule. She will speak to us at some point and be available Sunday night through Tuesday to speak with members.
So as you can see, this is a fall
meeting you won’t want to miss.
Thanks everyone – and I look forward to seeing you in October.
