Membership & Member Dues (applications)
The Association shall be composed of two categories of members - College Stores and Associates.
COLLEGE STORES
College Store members shall be those individuals who manage a college
store and their assistants. Membership shall also be extended to include those individuals
who are not engaged in daily operation of a college store but who do control its
operation.
ASSOCIATES
Associate members shall be those individuals or firms who are in the
business of publishing books, manufacturers or distributors of related supplies or
services used by college stores members.
Membership requirements in addition to those listed above are as follows -
COLLEGE STORES
The college store shall be located within the state of Illinois and its primary function
is the retail sale of textbooks and/or related supplies to college and university
students. Applicants shall provide three references from associate members of this
association with whom they are currently doing business.
ASSOCIATES
Associates shall provide three references. They shall be fair and ethical in their
business practices.
ALL CATEGORIES
Payment of annual dues assessment shall be current.
ADMISSION
Any individual meeting the qualifications as stated above, willing to abide by the
constitution may apply for membership. Admission of new members must be approved by a
simple majority of the members present at the business meeting.
However, the Officers may grant conditional membership to an applicant until the membership has an opportunity to vote at the next business meeting.
DISMISSAL
1. Non-payment of dues shall result in forfeiture of membership.
2. Unethical behavior. Any member may bring charges against another member. These charges must be submitted to the president who appoints a board of three members to investigate and submit in writing to the members their findings. The individual being accused shall have sixty days to answer the charges. Dismissal shall be by secret ballot of two-thirds of the members present at the business meeting.
Applying for Membership & Member Dues
If you meet the requirements as stated above and wish to join IACS, please complete the appropriate application form, print it out, and mail your dues payment with the application to IACS, Station A - Box 2245, Champaign, IL 61825. The online submission is incomplete until dues are received at IACS.
